When Ange first joined DOCNZ, she was blown away by the incredible people in the club! Friendly faces, helping hands, shared tools, tall tales, and plenty of laughs. The camaraderie was real, and the good vibes were everywhere.
Not long after, as she stepped into the Prez seat, Ange wanted a way to recognise those everyday legends who show up, pitch in, and keep the DOCNZ spirit hummin'.
... and so the Annual Good Bugger was born!
Every year, nominations open for members to shout out those who’ve gone the extra mile. The helpers, supporters, the “anything-you-need” types. The person with the most nominations is crowned Good Bugger of the Year at the annual National Ducati Rally, where we celebrate them and they also get an epic prize.
2025 - Graeme Joy
GJ is the ultimate right-hand man, legendary club Secretary, stealth IT support, project slayer, and all-round top bloke.
Whether he's solving portal mysteries, calling new members for a warm welcome, or turning up with road cones to save the crew a park, GJ does it all with humour and heart.
First to show up, last to leave, and always ready to help out Wellington’s finest and a DOCNZ gem!
2024 - Dave Fryer
Dave wasn’t sure about stepping into the Manawatū Director role -holy heck, we're glad he did!
His passion for people, Ducati, and the DOCNZ crew shines through everything he does. From welcoming newcomers with a grin, to rescuing stranded riders, to connecting communities across regions, Dave’s the guy who just gets stuck in.
He’s authentic, helpful, and full of heart, a true Good Bugger who embodies what DOCNZ is all about!
2023 - Pete Mallalieu
Pete is the kind of Good Bugger every region wishes they had. A Wellington stalwart with a big smile and an even bigger heart, he’s the one who shows up when things go sideways — whether it's a missing part, a crash, or just needing a solid hug.
Always dependable, generous, and quietly legendary. A true DOCNZ hero.
2021 - Perry Dunfoy
Known for his cheeky banter, big heart, and questionable quips, Perry is the first to put his hand up, especially as tail-end Charlie, or as the welcoming committee.
Despite being “fun-sized,” he’s huge in character and somehow manages to be everywhere at once! A true good bugger through and through.
2020 Chris Marer
Referred to as is the DOCNZ Godfather, and our first GOOD BUGGER, Chris is fountain of Ducati knowledge, stories, and good humour.
He’s always willing to share advice, lend a hand, or spin a yarn that brings the crew together.
Chris embodies the heart and soul of the club. His passion runs deep, and his presence always lifts the vibe, even he does steal your hot chips.
A true cornerstone of the DOCNZ community.
